The 360 University House was built in 1935 (the 10th year of the Shōwa era) as the Kaohsiung Tourism Pavilion for the Taiwan Exposition, held to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Japanese rule in Taiwan. Following the two-month exposition, the building was converted into a public bathhouse. As the only surviving purpose-built pavilion of the Taiwan Exposition in Kaohsiung and the sole remaining structure associated with the Shoushan Seaside Bathing Beach, the building holds significant historical value.

Over the years, its interior was adapted to accommodate different uses. In 1999, National Sun Yat-sen University initiated a three-year renovation to revitalize the building as a campus venue for arts and culture. Renamed the Sizihwan Art Gallery, it became an important exhibition space for both the University and the greater Kaohsiung area. The building was designated a municipal historic monument in 2004. Following a reassessment of its cultural heritage significance, it was officially renamed “Sizihwan Guest House (Former Kaohsiung Tourism Pavilion)” in 2024.

Committed to the preservation and maintenance of cultural heritage, the University completed a major restoration of the historic building in December 2023 in accordance with applicable cultural heritage regulations. The restoration adopted a diachronic conservation approach, preserving architectural styles and construction methods from different periods to reflect the building’s evolution over time. The project also restored elements of its original architectural appearance, including the main façade, exterior wall colors, and ribbon windows, while removing later-added perimeter walls. Remnants of the former bathing pools were also restored and preserved, allowing the building’s cultural heritage value to be more fully appreciated.

Following the restoration, the building was reimagined as the 360 University House. Its name symbolizes an embracing connection with Shoushan and Sizihwan, and the venue now serves as a landmark space for arts, exhibitions, and cultural events on campus.
